The Huskies continue their unbeaten streak going 12 games unbeaten over the last 2 years in DVCHC DII League play. They defeated Penn State Harrisburg 7-4 tonight at the Toyota Sports Plex. Nick Quaranto scored the hat trick the last coming on a empty netter. Lucas Styles picked up 4 assist in the victory. Austin Gower, Joe Mazza, Matt Zientek, and Jordan Kline had the other Husky goals. Gabe LaPenna picked up the win in goal. The Huskies last lost a DVCHC DII League game on September 23, 2017. The Huskies currently sit atop the DVCHC DII Division at 2-0-1.

The Huskies have now gone unbeaten in 11 straight games over the last two years in DVCHC DII Regular season play. The Huskies last lost a regular season DVCHC DII game on September 23, 2017.

The Huskies returned home from Temple at 2:00 AM and had to be back at the rink for a 3:00 PM faceoff against Scranton. They looked tired but held their own for the best of two periods but Scranton ended up on top in this battle with a 5-1 non league game win. Dylan Lowry scored the only goal for the Huskies. The Huskies travel to Millersville next Saturday for a 5:00 PM faceoff.

President Becker, Vice President Thomas, Coach McGrady and Coach Elkins will be heading to the mandatory DVCHC Meeting in Aston, PA tomorrow. Division II expansion will be on the table with Drexel a new team in the DVCHC and Alvernia, Bucknell and Penn State Harrisburg making petition to move to DII. Also on the table will be the status of Kutztown University. The 4 team expansion puts the DVCHC at 8 possibly 9 which now gives the league a auto-bid for regional play.

ACHA gaining attention through entertaining National Tournament.
ACHA D2 is bringing on some competitive hockey to the table as well. At a level where you would think average Junior A players would be able to step in and make an impact is making me look silly. Knowing “junior a” players in the tournament, I’ve been trying to pick them out through watching online and it’s not easy. They’re bottom six guys because of the depth and actual development players are starting to go through at this level. I expected a tough tournament, but the skill and overall depth of the teams is a nice surprise.

Huskies lose a heart breaker to Susquehanna 6-5 with just 0:45 seconds remaining in regulation time. The Huskies will head home in the morning and reload for next season.
Great Season for the Huskies going 6-1-1 in DVCHC regular season play and 9-1-1 overall.
In ACHA action the Huskies were 11-8-1 overall.

Goaltender Gabe LaPenna Blanks Kutztown as Jon Blust scores 2 in the win. The Huskies closed out the regular season with a 7-0 win over rival Kutztown University tonight in Reading, PA. The Huskies finished the season with a 6-1-1 record and a 6 game unbeaten streak in the ACHA DVCHC DII Division where they have not lost since a NL game in the DVCHC Tournament in November. The last two seasons the Huskies have posted a 14-2-2 record in league play.
The Huskies will have their first Annual Alumni Game on February 17th at 4:15PM at the Sports Plex and then play a non league game against Salisbury at the Toyota Sports Plex at 2:45 PM on February 18th on Senior Night completing the 17-18 season.

The Huskies run their unbeaten streak to 5 games tieing Division rival Lafayette 6-6 in Bethlehem, PA at the Steele Center. The Huskies were down 6-4 with 13:22 left in the 3rd period and Jonnny Blust scored at 12:30 of the 3rd to make it 6-5. Matt "ZANNY" Zeintek tied it at the 0:36 mark to end up sending the game to OT.
In OT the Huskies where applying good pressure but took a penalty with 1:12 left in the game and had to skate 4 on 3 for the remainder of the game. They were able to kill off the penalty and run their current unbeaten streak to 5 games.
The Huskies head to Kutztown to end the regular season next weekend on the 10th.

Huskies defeated LaSalle 8-7 yesterday picking up 50 shots on goal in the win. Darren Barder scored the hat trick in the win with Fricke picking up 2 and Arizini, Styles and Moyer scoring the other Husky goals. The Huskies improved to 5 - 1 with the win in the ACHA DVCHC DII Division.
The Huskies now go on winter break.

Proposal for Changes
Helmet Issue
The NCAA instituted a rule that all helmets must be worn by players during all times except during the national anthem and postgame celebration.
Recently we have noticed that players are taking their helmets off after warm-ups and leaving them on the bench or the ice cut then coming back out and doing “hot laps” before the start of the game. ACHA has also taken this directive seriously and we need to enforce it.
Here is what it states in the NCAA rule book. (Copied and pasted)
Rule 9.4; 32.3 Helmets must be worn by players and officials on the ice except during anthem and postgame celebrations…………….pages 22, 41
This is a safety concern and one that is very simple to follow. We are all guardians of our players and want to see them enjoy this great sport through graduation and beyond...

Proposal for Changes
We have gone from requiring players to enroll in and pass 9 credits a semester to 18 credits a calendar year. I would like some feedback on requiring players to take and pass 24 credits in a calendar year.
If a student takes only 18 credits a year for five years, it will take him six and a half years to get through college. That is not the message we want to send. Most colleges and universities require students to enroll in at least 12 credits per semester.

President Becker, Vice President Thomas, Coach McGrady and Coach Elkins will be heading to the mandatory DVCHC Meeting in Aston, PA tomorrow. Division II expansion will be on the table with Drexel a new team in the DVCHC and Alvernia, Bucknell and Penn State Harrisburg making petition to move to DII. Also on the table will be the status of Kutztown University. The 4 team expansion puts the DVCHC at 8 possibly 9 which now gives the league a auto-bid for regional play.

ACHA gaining attention through entertaining National Tournament.
ACHA D2 is bringing on some competitive hockey to the table as well. At a level where you would think average Junior A players would be able to step in and make an impact is making me look silly. Knowing “junior a” players in the tournament, I’ve been trying to pick them out through watching online and it’s not easy. They’re bottom six guys because of the depth and actual development players are starting to go through at this level. I expected a tough tournament, but the skill and overall depth of the teams is a nice surprise.

Huskies lose a heart breaker to Susquehanna 6-5 with just 0:45 seconds remaining in regulation time. The Huskies will head home in the morning and reload for next season.
Great Season for the Huskies going 6-1-1 in DVCHC regular season play and 9-1-1 overall.
In ACHA action the Huskies were 11-8-1 overall.

Goaltender Gabe LaPenna Blanks Kutztown as Jon Blust scores 2 in the win. The Huskies closed out the regular season with a 7-0 win over rival Kutztown University tonight in Reading, PA. The Huskies finished the season with a 6-1-1 record and a 6 game unbeaten streak in the ACHA DVCHC DII Division where they have not lost since a NL game in the DVCHC Tournament in November. The last two seasons the Huskies have posted a 14-2-2 record in league play.
The Huskies will have their first Annual Alumni Game on February 17th at 4:15PM at the Sports Plex and then play a non league game against Salisbury at the Toyota Sports Plex at 2:45 PM on February 18th on Senior Night completing the 17-18 season.

The Huskies run their unbeaten streak to 5 games tieing Division rival Lafayette 6-6 in Bethlehem, PA at the Steele Center. The Huskies were down 6-4 with 13:22 left in the 3rd period and Jonnny Blust scored at 12:30 of the 3rd to make it 6-5. Matt "ZANNY" Zeintek tied it at the 0:36 mark to end up sending the game to OT.
In OT the Huskies where applying good pressure but took a penalty with 1:12 left in the game and had to skate 4 on 3 for the remainder of the game. They were able to kill off the penalty and run their current unbeaten streak to 5 games.
The Huskies head to Kutztown to end the regular season next weekend on the 10th.

Proposal for Changes
Helmet Issue
The NCAA instituted a rule that all helmets must be worn by players during all times except during the national anthem and postgame celebration.
Recently we have noticed that players are taking their helmets off after warm-ups and leaving them on the bench or the ice cut then coming back out and doing “hot laps” before the start of the game. ACHA has also taken this directive seriously and we need to enforce it.
Here is what it states in the NCAA rule book. (Copied and pasted)

Proposal for Changes
We have gone from requiring players to enroll in and pass 9 credits a semester to 18 credits a calendar year. I would like some feedback on requiring players to take and pass 24 credits in a calendar year.
If a student takes only 18 credits a year for five years, it will take him six and a half years to get through college. That is not the message we want to send. Most colleges and universities require students to enroll in at least 12 credits per semester.

Fricke, Arizini Barter and Prego each scored 2 as the Huskies defeated Susquehanna 13-1 Saturday at the Toyota Sports Plex in Wilkes Barre to even their record in DVCHC play at 1-1. Styles, Gower, Zeintek, Lacoste and Schaeffer all scored single tallies. Freshman Dom Lerro was in the net for the Huskies.

LaPenna was solid in the net keeping the Huskies in the contest early on. Keth, Barter and Gower scored in the loss. The Huskies head home tomorrow to face Lafayette.
